CASE STUDY: TCKTCKTCK

Issue:
The Global Campaign for Climate Action created TckTckTck, a multi-million dollar worldwide campaign that brought together some of the most prominent members of civil society to collectively call for a fair, ambitious and binding treaty on climate change at the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark. TckTckTck needed their message to reach a broader audience, encapsulating members from all over the world.

Solution:
The Hoggan team was brought on to offer strategic advice for the social media marketing and online stakeholder engagement, as well as to advise on the framing of the campaign's advocacy and sustainability message overall.

The Hoggan team also helped develop the "Fresh Air Center" at the Copenhagen climate conference. The Fresh Air Center was a rapid response digital media hub that was set up to connect civil society with the top online journalists and web 2.0 activists. Katherine Goldstein, editor of the Green section for the largest news blog in the world, The Huffington Post described the Fresh Air Center as "Standing on the Edge of the Future" and that, "Unequivocally, it's [Fresh Air Center] the backbone to where new media is going."

Result:
TckTckTck and the website TckTckTck.org became the major worldwide campaign for major environmental, faith-based and development Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's), youth groups, trade unions and individuals calling for a fair, ambitious and binding treaty at the Copenhagen summit.

Partner organizations include: 350.org, World Vision, WWF, Amnesty International, Global Humanitarian Forum, Avaaz.org, Greenpeace International and Oxfam. During the 5 months of the campaign, TckTckTck and its partners registered 15.5 million names worldwide on an online petition. TckTckTck campaign events were covered on thousands of social media outlets like blogs, online forums, Facebook groups and Twitter.
